Konferenzbericht (Zeitschrift) | Peer reviewedExtracellular vesicles (EVs) are gaining prominence as important biomarkers and therapeutic agents due to their role in intercellular communication and disease modulation. The 2025 joint meeting of GSEV, IGLD and INSTAND provided a platform for experts to converge and discuss the latest advancements in EV research, diagnostics and clinical translation. Noteworthy highlights included the presentation of novel single-EV analysis tools such as the Single Particle Profiler for high-resolution EV analysis, insights into the uptake and delivery of EVs, as well as their roles in immunity, neurobiology, and cancer. The clinical sessions placed particular emphasis on the use of EVs as minimally invasive biomarkers, for example saliva-derived EVs as highly sensitive biomarkers for head and neck cancer. Therapeutic sessions involved the presentation of engineered EVs and stem cell-derived products, in addition to addressing regulatory and reproducibility challenges. The meeting served to affirm the potential of EVs as promising tools in both diagnostics and therapy, with the field moving steadily towards clinical translation.
