Beschreibung

The main goal of this project is to study nonlinear spin-wave propagation in laterally patterned magnetic nanostructures. Nonlinear spin-wave optical effects in micro-waveguides of different dimensionalities and properties of persistent nonlinear wave objects in parametrically pumped closed-loop nanowaveguides will be investigated. These studies will open a new research field, which we call "nonlinear spin-wave nanooptics". The proposed investigations will contribute to the basic physics of universal nonlinear phenomena, such as solitons, modulational instabilities, pattern formation, and dynamic chaos. Besides, they are expected to open new possibilities for manipulation, amplification, and transmission of spin waves to be used in applications of magnetic nanostructures in microelectronic devices. The project brings together two world-leading research groups, possessing a unique experience in both magnetic dynamics and in patterned magnetic nanostructures.
