Asparaginase represents one of the first drugs been introduced into the therapeutic concepts to treat Leukemia. Nevertheless relevant pharmacological information is still missing. An increasing number of groups did implement an asparaginase activity monitoring into their study concepts and even the SmPs´s of currently available drugs support the need of blood level analysis. There is however not a standardised analytical procedure and different assays are in place. To increase the comparability of different international results we initiated a ring trial. An increasing number of labs in a growing number of countries on different continents do participate in the meantime.
